Exchanging Letters with AI Toward the Future

“Writing the Futures” is a web application that enables users to envision the future by exchanging letters with an AI.
Participants can choose either “Write a Letter to the Future” or “Receive a Letter from the Future.” If you select “Write a Letter to the Future,” you can express your hopes and thoughts about the future in the form of a letter and send it to someone in the future. After some time, you will receive a response from “someone in the future” in the form of a letter. This letter is generated by the AI, allowing participants to imagine the future through this exchange.
If you choose “Receive a Letter from the Future,” the AI, acting as “someone in the future,” generates and delivers a letter to you. You will then respond to the letter, contemplating the future as you do.
The application also offers the option to transform the letter exchange into an animation.
In the 21st century, as autonomous technologies like AI become more prevalent in society, how will we build consensus for the future of our society?
“Writing the Futures” is a tool for creating “stories of the future” that could not have been conceived by humans alone, symbolizing the “social will” of the future that will be co-created by both humans and AI.
