Ghosthouse

A place where our ghosts gather as we engage with our smartphones

When we immerse ourselves deeply in information, our consciousness is liberated from our bodies. Information windows, such as smartphones, tablets, computer screens, and televisions, become portals through which our “ghosts” embark on their journeys.
GHOSTHOUSE is an installation where the ghosts of our consciousness come together.
By installing an app called “GhostApp” on your smartphone, the usage of your device is reflected in the installation.
The installation consists of robotic devices designed with an eye motif. When a remote user starts interacting with their smartphone, one of the robotic eyes in the installation opens and begins to scan the room. When the remote interaction ends, the robotic eye closes.
While the smartphone draws in our “consciousness,” our bodies remain behind. Driven by information media, the harmless “I” observes the physical body from a distance. How do we come to terms with this gap?
