Living Memory

What if we could see the memories of objects?

In the early 2000s, there was a surge of exploration into new technologies, such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), which are now becoming increasingly prevalent. During this period, h.o presented various artistic visions that foreshadowed the future potential of IoT and AR technologies.

Living Memory is an augmented reality information tool that utilizes transparent displays. By placing everyday objects within the installation, the display reveals the hidden stories behind them. This project was a collaborative effort with NTT Advanced Technology, aimed at exploring potential applications for future households.

At that time, the Wacoal Art Center was pioneering the Rendezvous Project, a collaboration between artists and companies to integrate art into daily life. This project was showcased at the My Sweet Home exhibition, where h.o, as part of this initiative, engaged in diverse and creative practices alongside various collaborators, pushing the boundaries of art’s application.
