NEST

A New Commons Where the Real and Virtual Intersect

NEST is an art project in which purchasing a physical ant-shaped artwork allows the buyer to share a virtual nest in cyberspace through an associated online ant avatar. In the early 2000s, h.o. explored the diverse new forms of commons emerging through the internet, along with the economic implications they bring. Since 2020, new examples of art and commons have emerged, enabled by technologies like blockchain and NFTs. This project, which blends the physical and digital realms into an innovative economic model, was already recognized as a pioneering work when it was presented at an exhibition at SPIRAL.
