Strobe Switch

Exploring Media Art in Everyday Life

Strobe Switch is a media art installation where interactive content changes in response to the movements of passersby, triggered by a powerful flash of light. All things around us are fleeting moments, passing by with memory in the strobe light. Similarly, Strobe Switch is a work that questions the concept of “contingency” in public spaces. With the advancement of digital technologies such as computer systems, the internet, and projectors, the early 2000s marked a period when media art began to move beyond museums, galleries, and laboratories into everyday life. During this time, h.o. engaged in active collaborations with the Wacoal Art Center “SPIRAL” and presented numerous examples of media art within the context of daily life.
