Wanderline
What if transportation networks were transformed into lines of sound?
Wanderline is a project that reimagines global transportation networks (buses, trams, trains, roads, routes, walkways, etc.) as a new musical experience.
Between 2020 and 2021, humanity faced a pandemic that limited our ability to travel and physically connect with others. After experiencing profound isolation and travel restrictions, what kinds of journeys will we embark on as we emerge from this pandemic?
Wanderline is a location-based audiovisual application that allows users to experience music unique to specific places. The app can be installed on a smartphone, enabling users to physically travel along a designated “line” in geographic space.
This interactive music changes not only with location but also with speed, time, and weather, providing a one-of-a-kind experience that exists only in that particular moment.
The project seeks to redefine the world’s transportation networks as open platforms for new music, collaboratively exploring audiovisual experiences with creators. Starting with Tram Line 1 in Linz, the project will then expand to the water buses of Venice, with plans to incorporate additional lines in the future.
How will this new form of “Wanderlust” inspire our creative expression in a post-pandemic world?
Wanderline offers a fresh perspective on the various networks humanity has built, presenting us with a new form of journey.
